SVP SHOP - St VINCENTS The shop is doing well, and has been welcoming your donations. It reports a strong demand for furniture, especially beds, and their van has been kept busy collecting items from a wide area. Please ring them on 0207-249-3511 if you have any items surplus to your needs. Their main stock is clothing, and they will appreciate any saleable items you can spare. As we said last month, one of our members makes occasional visits, and will be happy to collect them from you (ring 7589-4720). If you are considering a visit, the location is 484-486 Kingsland Road, on the Right, 1 ¾ miles North of Liverpool Street station. You can’t miss it - painted bright blue. It is on a bus lane, but there is a 20 minute “loading zone”which operates between 10am and 4pm

SVP AMBULANCE. We are certain that there are many parishioners w ho would wish to attend Sunday Mass, but find it difficult to make their own way to the Oratory. It is for those of you, and anyone you know, who might like transport, that in the mid 1980's we first acquired a minibus/ambulance. Since then, starting at 9am and finishing around 1pm volunteer drivers and helpers have made it possible for all but the severely disabled to attend Sunday Mass at 10.00 or 11.00. For those immobilised we can accommodate two wheelchairs. For some reason we currently have a shortage of customers, which is a little discouraging for those who give up their Sundays to help. Please ring the Oratory porteria 7808-0900-0 if we can help you. Please leave your name, address, and if possible a contact phone number.

SANDWICHES FOR “THE PASSAGE”. Each Friday night for many years PRET A MANGER shops in Brompton Road and Kings Road have been donating surplus sandwiches and other food items which we collect and take to The Passage for serving to homeless customers on Saturday, when normal kitchen staff are not on duty. Since they have improved their customer prediction techniques, surpluses have reduced, but to compensate they have invited us to collect from other outlets. We are also collecting from EAT.

SATURDAY AT “THE PASSAGE”. As you are aware, in addition to the sandwiches, on one Saturday a month, we have been taking over the kitchen and offering a limited range of hot food. Since mid February we have begun to operate on two Saturdays a month, but to maintain this activity we will need a larger “pool” of volunteers. If you would like to help please ring 7629-9056. Senior Boys and Girls from the Oratory School are helping with this work.
