The March appeal for donations to provide the candles for the Forty Hours’ Devotion was very generously met by our readers, and we wish to thank you for the £2,670 we received for this.

During this month three breathtaking new statues are due to arrive from Seville. Our crucified Lord, Our Blessed Lady, and the Beloved Disciple have been hand-carved in Spain by renowned sculptor Darío Fernández, who works in the Spanish realist tradition. The three life-size statues of polychromed wood form a Calvary group which will be installed in its new position beneath the organ and choir gallery.

Visitors will have already noticed the painted backdrop for the Calvary, which was painted by Mr Alan Dodd in the Oratory House and installed in November last year. We hope to carry more information about these fine additions to God’s house next month.
